Feeding of birds of prey on the territory of Rila Monastery Nature Park

The Directorate of the Rila Monastery Nature Park at the Executive Forest Agency will start feeding the birds of prey on the territory of the park in the next few days. The event is part of the activities of the project "Construction of a site for feeding birds of prey " under the Operational Program Environment. Preparations for the event have been underway since the beginning of May this year, as experts from the Directorate carried out an inspection in the area below Derizmiytsa Peak of the carnivore feeding site, which was built in 2019. The fallen trees on the road to the site were removed, which made it possible to start with the first bird feedings for 2020.
Last year, they were cleared of trees and shrubs and the set test sites. Wooden railings and grills were made and installed in the field, in order to reduce the anthropogenic impact on the target areas. Habitat studies have been carried out in two areas: the Tiha Rila area and the Kalin Dam area, as well as the improvement of the water regime in the habitats.

All activities are carried out under project № BG16M1OP002-3.007-0013 "Maintenance and restoration activities in habitat 6430". Hydrophilic communities of tall grasses in the plains and in the mountain to the alpine zone and of target birds of prey on the territory of Rila Monastery Nature Park is financed by contract № BG16M1OP002-3.007-0013-C02 under the Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020 .
