Today we celebrate World Tourism Day. The aim of this day is to inform the public worldwide about the importance of tourism, as well as its social, political, financial, and cultural value for all people around the world.
Every year the World Tourism Day is dedicated to a specific topic and this year it is "Tourism and Rural Development".
Rila Monastery Nature Park is a protected area with exceptional biodiversity and cultural and historical heritage on a national and international scale, which annually attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors.
The choice of the date - September 27, 1980, coincides with a very important event in world tourism, namely the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the Statute of the World Tourism Organization to the United Nations - September 27, 1970.
For the first time in the history of World Tourism Day, hosts will be several countries - Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chile, reflecting the current need for international solidarity and cooperation.
The Rila Monastery Nature Park Directorate will mark the World Tourism Day with a series of meetings with hoteliers and restaurateurs working on the territory of the nature park.
